Kitchen Towels

We are here to change how you think about your kitchen linens !!

We truly believe that one should value and enjoy everything we use, even what may seem to be insignificant daily use items like kitchen towels or tea towels.

Unlike personal clothing, kitchen linens often purchased without giving much thought, even though they are things we use daily.

We spent a long time researching sustainable fabrics and experimenting with different designs to find the best solution for our range of kitchen linens.

While there is a growing trend towards  single use kitchen towels and napkins, these are not sustainable practices as these are often made from precious natural resources. We are happy to present our range of thoughtfully designed sustainable and durable  kitchen towels in a selection of carefully curated sustainable fabrics.

Kitchen Towels in Organic Cotton Canvas

Our kitchen towels in organic cotton are made from  GOTS certified organic cotton canvas (medium weight 230 GSM)  dyed with natural herbal dyes in solid and earthy pastel shades.

Organic cotton is one of the most sustainable fabrics available today with minimal environmental impact as compared to conventional cotton which is one of the most water intensive and pesticide consuming crops.

The reusable kitchen towels or tea towels are generously sized and come with a handy loop for hanging.

These linens are machine washable and easy to maintain.

Kitchen Towels in 100 % Hemp Fabric

Our kitchen/ tea towels in 100 % hemp fabric are made from  sustainable hemp fabric (medium weight 210 GSM/ 7 oz) dyed with AZO free dyes. Hemp fabric is 4 times more absorbent than cotton and has 3 times the tensile strength. Extremely breathable, these are also naturally antimicrobial and anti fungal making them an ideal choice for kitchen linens. Our Hemp towels and aprons will also get softer with every wash !

Hemp is one of the most sustainable fabrics available today. The hemp crop is fast growing and  extremely resilient, requiring no pesticides and very little land and water for cultivation. It not only renews the soil but also prevents soil erosion. The production of hemp is also carbon neutral to carbon negative which means that it absorbs more carbon form the atmosphere during its growth than is emitted by the equipment used to harvest, process and transport it !

The hemp kitchen towels have been dyed using AZO free dyes which do not contain harmful nitrogen- based compounds which are extremely polluting. They have a much lower environmental impact as compared to traditional AZO dyes. AZO free dyes are also safe for contact with skin and food.

Kitchen Towels in Indigenous Kala Cotton

Kala cotton is an old-world indigenous cotton variety from Kachchh, Gujarat, India and is by nature sustainable and organic, being cultivated without the use of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. It is a purely rain fed crop that has a high tolerance for both disease and pests.

These towels are machine washable, durable and easy to maintain.

How do I wash and care for the Urban Creative kitchen towels ?
Our kitchen towels can be hand washed or machine washed. We recommend washing them cold or at temperatures below 40 °C, preferably with a biodegradable detergent. We do not recommend using chlorine bleach for our towels. As our organic cotton towels are natural dyed, there may be some fading of color with use. We also do not recommend using fabric softners for our towels as they reduce the absorbency of natural fabrics. For tough stains, the towels may be soaked in a half bucket of water with a 1/2 cup of vinegar before washing as usual.
